eagle

Man’s capacity for justice makes democracy possible,
but man’s inclination to injustice makes democracy necessary.

~ Reinhold Niebuhr ~

On Sunday we went for a top down drive in the country. It was beautiful and sunny. We needed to get out.

A huge bird flew over...an eagle. A bald eagle. Incredible. I am so glad they chose the eagle instead of the turkey for our national bird.

I haven't seen an eagle, but I'm on hawk watch. How wonderful to be driving down an ordinary road between strip malls only to see a hawk looking out for it's own fast food.

What majestic birds they are! I am fortunate to live on a lake where the bald eagles frequent and occasionally perch on a pole not far from my deck. We have watched them pick fish out of the water...and even a duck once! I can't imagine that a turkey would be so fascinating to observe. Lots of hawks here, too, Laura.
