proclaim my law of love

(st. damien)

So tell the earth to shake
With marching feet
Of messengers of peace
Proclaim my law of love
To every nation
Every race.

~ Thomas Merton~

from his poem "Earthquake"

Father Damien became a missionary to the lepers in Hawaii. Then he became one himself.

Law of Love.

Spread the word.

I like that - law of love. If only the whole entire world would practise it. Oh, what a wonderful world it would be.

Thinking of you Sis.

It is a great phrase. It could be the only law we need.

Now you've got me thinking! Would we put people not thought to be obeying the law in jail? No? Not something we legislate, then, but a natural law, perhaps. One we just don't recognize yet, not as obvious as gravity. But if it's a natural law, it already exists, and we are all subject to it exactly the same. Not something to which we subscribe. Natural. Like rain. Like sunshine. Like trees growing up and roots growing down.

Law of love. I like what Deb Shucka said better: It could be the only law we need.
