perspective

(i liked this headstone)

My call for a spiritual revolution is not a call for a religious revolution, nor for a way of life that is otherworldly - still less to something magical or mysterious. It is a call for a radical reorientation away from our habitual preoccupation with self, a call to turn toward the wider community of beings with whom we are connected, and for conduct which recognizes others’ interests alongside our own.

~ HH Dalai Lama ~

When I travel, I like to go into churches and cemetaries. This was a graveyard at a church near Hawi.

Being in cemetaries, reading headstones, creates a bigger perspective for me. What must it have been like to be that person? To live in that time? That town?

Sometimes, it really doesn't require much of us to be radically reoriented away from our habitual preoccupation with ourselves.

Not much at all.

Which is a really good thing because I seem to need to be reoriented away from myself a lot. :-)

Spent some time in a cemetery on Sunday, I agree!
