learning to live with disability

the garden

You know how bad you feel when you didn't know your cat was under your feet and you step on him?

Imagine your cat has only 3 legs, is newly out of surgery, finds moving to be painful, and still isn't very steady.

Sure, I was barefoot and didn't kick him hard. But it didn't take much to knock him off his one good back leg.

Yep. That's how awful I feel.

Oh, Wanda! I've been away and just caught up on HoneyBoy's story. I'm so sorry! Like your life needed one more thing. I'm sure there will be much to be learned from this new chapter of all your lives, and there will be great stories to tell. I predict he will keep his sweet nature and eventually act as though nothing ever happened.

Sending prayers to you all. Love.

I am sure that Honey Boy knows you didn't mean to do it. I hope he knows how lucky he is to have such wonderful humans to love and care for him. And I am also sure that he will recover fully and be back to his same old kitty self.

And your garden is beautiful!

Thankfully, animals don't harbor grudges.

On a more global note - funny how one person's disability "bleeds" into their interactions with others, huh?
