What's So Bad About Feeling Good?

Chookooloonks offered us a challenge today: "What's making you happy right here, right now?"

Whenever I hear about the contagion of happiness, I can't help thinking about this cheesy 1968 movie, What's So Bad About Feeling Good? starring George Peppard and Mary Tyler Moore. I saw the movie when it came out and I loved it.

The premise is that a ship comes into port in New York and a parrot flies from the boat into the city and infects the population with a bug. The symptom of the bug is that people start feeling good, are happy, and are nice to each other. The authorities set out to capture the bird and start warning everyone about the virus. People start wearing surgical masks and looking at others who are smiling suspiciously.

Eventually, the bird is caught and the effects of the virus wear off. But lo and behold, some people remain happy. Turns out that the happiness itself is contagious and some of the people who are "infected" maintain the demeanor because they like it.

Me, too.

What makes me happy right here, right now?

Crispy toast.
Being productive.
Strong, hot black coffee.
Connection with people I love.
Connection with people who love me.
Accomplishing and crossing tasks off my list.

What about you?

I'm loving strong hot coffee too. I do like sweet creamers in mine though. The variety of creamers out there brings me endless amounts of joy and I don't know why. But I'll go with it. Have a great day! :)

Great list! I'll have to watch that movie - I've never seen it.

What makes me happy? Seeing my sisters in 2 days, that's what.
