farewell, ron

The death of a beloved is an event that rings and rings through a life: bearing it is not a problem to be solved, but a long, slow piece of music to listen to. And mourning, like music, is best listened to with others.

~ Sarah Miles ~

My sister came to Oregon last week. That's the good news. The bad news is that she came because her brother-in-law...the trickster...died on April 1st. (That's right--April Fools Day!)

Today, everyone is gathering to remember Ron and say their farewells.

Rest well, Ron. You will be missed.

oh, the tearing of a fabric of a family when one leaves is horrid, but the miracle is that we weave it back together. Impossibly but somehow.

One of the best quotes ever on loss and grieving. I'm sorry for your loss, love that he left on such an appropriate day. May the music of this day offer comfort to you all.

I'm sorry I missed this before, and sorry you lost another you love so soon. Thank you for sharing this story. My dad, too, was a trickster, and the day he died, everyone except me saw a coyote roaming the farmstead. I saw the daylight sky sparkling with zillions of itty bitty diamond lights. Gotta be a special place in heaven for the tricksters.
