An email going around says that this device was made from farm equipment at University of Iowa and now resides at the Smithsonian. Actually, according to snopes.com, the device doesn't exist in real life, but is a computer animated music video entitled "Pipe Dream."

Wow! I saw it, and I heard it and I loved it, so as far as I'm concerned it "exists."

I have seen a number of similar animations on PBS and, I can't explain it, but they invariably leave me feeling quite uneasy. As this one does. I know I should feel awe at the ingenuity, but I feel unease instead. Don't know why.
