love thursday 09.30.10 ~ i love the perfect protest à la brené brown

Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

I had the good fortune to attend a workshop with Brené Brown several years ago. She is a wonderful teacher and story teller. Now she has a new book out: The Gifts of Imperfection.

Brené invited us to join her in the perfect protest...and I, being a child of the 70s, couldn't pass that up. Check out her blog by clicking the title of this post. (If it doesn't work, please let me know. I am giving up perfection, you know.)

As a real life expression of my move to imperfection I accidentally left the "c" out of "perfect" in my sign above and had to squeeze it in. Oops. Oh, well.

Letting go of perfection = Freedom!

your sign is great! Love it.

p.s. the word verification is "fatrus"... good thing I'm not a perfect monger.

Your picture made me laugh out loud. Come to think of it, we never laugh at perfect things, only imperfections that tickle us in some way. Although your expression here is perfectly delightful.

Love the quote, too.

Love your quote!!!
I just joined in on Brene's Perfect Protest. (Just found her blog last night, so I wasn't able to snap a picture). Once I hit a 30-something, I began to feel this way.
I have learned there is a sense of peace that comes with accepting little imperfections. :D
Have a great weekend!!

I agree, and you know what? Because the c is a little different, the sign is more interesting. Artful. Perfection is misunderstood.
