peaceful week

Peace is not a matter of prizes or trophies. It is not the product of a victory or command. It has no finishing line, no final deadline, no fixed definition of achievement. Peace is a never-ending process, the work of many decisions by many people in many countries. It is an attitude, a way of life, a way of solving problems and resolving conflicts. It cannot be forced on the smallest nation or enforced by the largest. It cannot ignore our differences or overlook our common interests. It requires us to work and live together.

Oscar Arias Sánchez

from his Nobel Lecture

If they can do it (see the picture) so can we. Right?

I am tired of liars and cheaters and thieves and sociopaths. I am tired of dealing with those who don't do what is right.

I can't make them do what is right. I can't change them. Just me. I can only change me. So today--at the beginning of a new week, I am seeking peace within. My never ending process--one decision at a time.

May you have a peaceful week.

Ourselves is all we can ever change - frustrating and difficult as that is. Namaste, dear friend.

Very wise words, Wanda... We can only work on ourselves, our actions/reactions to things. And as often, we can learn so much from cats. ;o) Happy Day ((HUGS))

This image, with your words and the quote, brings tears to my eyes. Yes, if they can do it, why can't we?

Particularly grateful for this: "It is an attitude, a way of life, a way of solving problems and resolving conflicts." And "It requires us to live and work together."

Increasingly it seems to me that part of the problem is that we gave up living and working together. How much better might we be at peacemaking if we knew our neighbors--really knew them, and shared more with each other?

Easiest way I know of to make peace: Smile at everyone I meet. Smile while walking down the street. It seems to change people mid-stride. Certainly changes me.

I stand with you my friend to seek peace within. It's there always. It's always pulling at your heart. So, again, I see peace in you, because you are peace. Other's who don't see peace, will see it one day. It's the inevitable.

I think the key is to rename them, and not classify them as such things as "thieves, liars, cheaters, and sociopaths." That might help get more peaceful. Just sayin'... : )
