love thursday 02.10.11 ~ learning love

No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.

Nelson Mandela

It's not enough to have "anti-bullying" campaigns--although they are important. It is also important to teach love and empathy. Encourage it. Nurture it. Model it. Celebrate it.

Turn it into entertainment:

And start with the young.

Flash mobs are amazing in and of themselves, just because they bring people together with joy. But to see school kids doing one, well that just reminds the world that not all our young people are full of selfishness and hate... thank you so much for sharing this xx

Wanda,

What a perfect quote from Nelson Mandela to start this post!

You're right. Bullying prevention programs are important but teaching love and empathy from the get-go is crucial too.

This video is awesome! I had posted it on the Love Beats Hate page the other day and it came to my attention that same day that two of the bloggers (you being one of the two!) who were writing posts for Love Beats Hate had used this video in the posts. :)

It really is a great fit for the Love Beats Hate message.

Wonderful post!
