think on these things

Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.

Philippians 4:4-9

Yes, Deb. You are so right.

Thank you for always reminding me to think about the things that matter.

I can hear my father's voice, at the pulpit, reading these words, or rather, holding the Bible open to the passage, and not needing to read them, for he knew them well.

I miss my dad. I did not know I would miss him so much, ours having been a troubled relationship. Yet, I feel him with me frequently, his palsied hand on my shoulder.

On another note, this passage reminds me a bit of that Wiccan saying, quoting the Goddess: "All acts of love and pleasure are my rituals."

Either way, a simple teaching.

However we humans see our spirituality, we can see love and beauty, if we choose. I tend to think it is men who choose to do violence in the name of whatever greater being they follow.
