misi

(misi @ 17)

Peace is not something you must hope for in the future. Rather, it is a deepening of the present, and unless you look for it in the present you will never find it.

Thomas Merton

Misi doesn't get much air time. Part of that is because she doesn't like to be seen. She rarely holds still long enough for me to take a picture and she would rather be under the bed than in front of the lens. But she is lovely. She is dainty and sweet--then out of nowhere she will let loose with a blood curdling scream for no apparent reason. I don't know. Maybe she is singing.

She turned 17 this month. For a cat, she is approaching the age they call "extreme geriatric." Human equivalency would put her in her 80s. I hope she lasts a long, long time. And I hope she is at peace here and now.

Update: HoneyBoy is doing well. The staples come out today. Mijo is doing well, too. He's been pissed off that we make him come in early, but the fireworks have been relentless and we don't want him to get spooked and run into danger. We will all be glad when the explosions stop.

There cannot be any other cats anywhere that have it any better than these three that live in your house. I just hope they know it!
