sustainability

Just as we should cultivate more gentle and peaceful relations with our fellow human beings, we should also extend that same kind of attitude towards the natural environment. Morally speaking, we should be concerned for our whole environment.

~ HH Dalai Lama ~

We are all connected...human, animal, plant, mineral. Planets, asteroids, galaxies.

We must think and plan beyond today. Seven generations beyond now is not too forward in our thinking.

When I hear of the short-sighted decisions based on greed, I feel so sad. I am developing a passion for businesses that do good and right.

Of course, businesses need to make a profit. Profit is possible at the same time we take care of others.

Greed is the issue. More is not always better. Greed is not sustainable. What's good and right is.

Agree! I heard someone say to me recently, "We (humans)are just big plants!"

However, ignorance is what damages our environment and greed is a form of ignorance.

To overcome that, simply give!

this is something very close to my heart - sustainability at all three levels: environmental, social and economic.

It occurs to me that your father left you a valuable legacy....the love for trees. I notice you photograph a lot of trees.

Isn't it nice to have the good things to carry on with?

This is one of those magical moments when I think, "Why can't I write like that?" Beautiful. Succinct. Perfect. You may already be aware of the superb Green Businesses pages at Co-Op America. They include many companies that watch out for the environment while providing goods and services we need and want. Some are also Fair Trade companies who meet internationally recognized standards for assuring the workers producing their goods are fairly treated and compensated (i.e., no sweatshops).
