cold frames

These are for our winter garden. At the moment, the one in the middle has the zucchini under it. The one in the foreground currently has vermicompost enriched soil and is ready to be planted--probably with carrots and beets...or maybe lettuce.

The one in the far back is not yet in place. Taller than the others, we plan to grow potatoes under that one.

I made all of these from reclaimed / recycled wood. I used up all those stray pieces we have been saving for years and now I am down to a few odds and ends remaining. Not even enough to build another box. I did have to buy the hardware, however.

TA DA! Another weekend project complete.

What did you do?

Pat yourself on the back! What a great accomplishment. You know what I did this weekend - had a deep conversation with three preadolescent girls - Whew! Time for a nap!

Exciting! Please, will you show us images, from time to time, of the plants growing in the frames? (Vicarious pleasures and all that.)
