As long as we observe love for others and respect for their rights and dignity in our daily lives, then whether we are learned or unlearned, whether we believe in the Buddha or God, follow some religion or none at all, as long as we have compassion for others and conduct ourselves with restraint out of a sense of responsibility, there is no doubt we will be happy.HH Dalai Lama
Love is action based in attitude. It isn't a feeling or even a belief. It is a decision to rise to the highest possible level--to interact with integrity, respect, and compassion. Being loving toward others--whether they agree with us or not--brings good. To us. To them. To those around us.
And good is...well...good.
Happy Love Thursday!

I like that: good is good. Love to you, my friend.
Thanks so much for distilling that down. I'm going to choose to rise to the highest possible level today.
Oh, how I wish I could model this to myself in those moments of churlish response to bad vibes. Practice, practice, practice! I do remember in time to pause, more often than not these days, but sometimes only enough to bite back the churlishness. Still working on replacing it with deep-felt love.
Hmmm. That last would imply that love is a feeling. Not sure I understand it completely as not feeling, but I certainly do understand it as compelling or impelling "a decision to rise to the highest possible level--to interact with integrity, respect and compassion."
Beautifully phrased. Thank you.
Love is a decision.
