love thursday 12.16.10 ~ barriers to love

(two years ago)

Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.

Rumi

Some days it's not a pretty sight. Love is. Love permeates everything. It's there for the taking, sharing, giving.

Lately, I see that I am the barrier. My mood, my thoughts, my attitude, my level of energy or well-being--any of those (and all of them at one time or another) get in the way of my choosing to be...to behave in a loving way.

Maybe--just maybe I'll figure it out before my time here is done.

Live like Jesus did, and the world will listen.

Mahatma Gandhi

Oh, yeah. That one.

Happy Love Thursday!

You have to love yourself first, my friend - even those bits that form barriers. Without resistance, they'll dissolve. Love.

Happy Love Thursday back right at 'cha, B. I love both of these quotes and I love your awareness and your writing in response to Rumi and Gandhi. Peace begins with me.

I was reading Brene Brown's latest book last night and she writes about how we can't begin to talk about love and belonging without first addressing the barriers to them. The fact that you are aware that there are barriers within yourself that block these things is truly a gift. I hope that you can find a path to breaking down the barriers and letting yourself feel the love.

I experience this as well. I love that saying from the World Peace Experiment site: "Only love prevails." It has saved me from making a grave mistake several times in the two or three weeks since I first saw it. Having a quick temper, I need frequent reminders. Thank you for this one.
